We require site users to register with Aknoi to view the information on the site. We may collect information from our users at several different points on the websites: this is so that we may customize the site according to individual usage, and ensure that content is acquired and developed appropriately.   

Further, the information is collected to give us an overall view and depiction of our user profiles, which in turn shows to our Contributors the type of person they are reaching by posting articles on Aknoi.   

The website is designed to enable primarily legal, financial and accounting professionals to network amongst themselves and also other persons who would wish to contact them and hence, once you give your contact details whilst registration you make the same available in the public domain; and we are in no way responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the same.  

Any contact or other information that you, as a registered user, post on the website shall be available to all the other registered users of the website whenever they try to contact you or post a question for you after reading an article written by you and/or whenever you as a user try to contact and/or post a question for an author of an article on the website.

The website stores a persistent Cookie on the user’s computer, in case he selects the “remember me on this computer” option while logging in. The purpose of the same is to automatically log in the user, when he visits the website the next time. Also, as per the user preference, the Preferred Start Up region is stored in the Cookie, and is shown to the user whenever he visits the site. The Cookie would remain active till the time the user does not “Log Out” of the site. The cookie does not track the user’s visits to any other site, except www.aknoi.com.  

We use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.   

This web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of these third party sites. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this web site. Some of these may use cookies on our site (for example, advertisers). However, we have no access to or control over these cookies and we are not aware of any at present that do so.  

From time-to-time we may request information from users via surveys or contests and the user has a choice whether to participate in such surveys or contests or not; such information will be used for purposes of monitoring the use or improving the functionality of the site.
